My first day out on the water this year and it was a good one. I was taking a look at Patoka Lake for the upcoming season opener for the BFL Hoosier Division. It was a rough day weather wise but the fish were biting. I caught a few keepers nothing huge and a bunch of smalls. The water color was nice and the temp was between 49 and 51 degrees. I was throwing a big colorado blade spinnerbait to start but I was seeing fish roll at it at the boat as I was bringing it in. I thought it might be a bit stained for a jerkbait but it wasn't they were eating it good. I would say with the warm weather and more warm rain the jerkbait bite may be over by tournament time so I am already trying to figure out where these fish will be in 9 days. I'll keep you posted.
