The last thing that entered my mind while making my way to Chautauqua County New York to fish Lake Erie was smallmouth bass. I knew Lake Erie was a good smallmouth lake but I was thinking walleye all the way. However, when my wife and I was asked about going out to look for smallmouth with the only bass boat attending the VIP fishing day put on by the Chautauqua-Erie County Fish Advisory Board, I accepted without hesitation. Seventeen boats donated their time to host 55 anglers to promote the fisheries of Chautauqua and Erie counties of New York and everyone wanted to go for those big walleyes but I took a chance on the smallies and boy am I glad I did. Scott Gould was gracious enough to donate his time and boat to introduce us to the great fishery of Chautauqua county New York and he did a fine job.
