The 2016 camp is setup and ready for the 2016 season. It amazes me how time flies as the seasons come and go faster and faster but I'm settled in and ready for the 2016 season. I have added a hunting clothes/boots drying room under the awning and I will go more into that later.
SCENT FREE ROOM
This is my drying room. It is great for keeping the next days hunting clothes warm and scent free for the mornings hunt. I have a heater in the bottom along with boot dryer that dries my boots every night. I have already used the drying room after an all day rain yesterday. I even hung my pack inside and safety harness and they all dried overnight. This is a great addition to any hunting camp and can be done for about $60. If you want more info either EMAIL me or leave a comment at the bottom of the page.
My mornings starts with running "the gauntlet" as I've come to call it. This year the water is so low there are many more treetops just below the surface and because of this it takes me an hour to get back to my spot. Then I have to walk, sometimes an hour, to get to my stand. There is no public access to the front side of the area I hunt but even if there was I would use the boat even though it is a longer and tougher trip in it is just a great way to access areas with less chance of spooking deer as they are out in the fields and make their way back to the old growth oaks and pines to spend the day.
Here is a short video showing part of "the gauntlet" this is the more tame section I would not hold the camera through the knarlier sections for fear of losing it when I run up on a submerged tree top.
