As an outdoor writer we sometimes get offers on some great gear for the outdoors. Sometimes the deal is just for the writer and other times they tell us we can share with our followers. CODE BLUE SCENT DEALS

If you are like me using scents, for a variety of applications, helps you harvest more deer. I have personally used Code Blue deer scent products for years and can say that they work. I made mock scrapes for years without any deer visiting them until I purchased Code Blue Rack Rub. Rack Rub is a scent that mimics a buck’s forehead and preorbital gland scent. A buck will rub these glands on a licking branch just above his scrape. I have found that a scrape without a licking branch is just some pawed earth in the woods. The licking branch is key and any time you build a mock scrape be sure and have one even if you create one by cutting a limb and placing it over the mock scrape. I use zip ties to accomplish this task if needed.

By scratching the leaves using a stick raking in one direction you can mimic a dominant buck intruding on the resident buck’s territory. This drives him mad. If you can locate the resident buck’s natural scrape and place a mock scrape nearby all the better. I have arrowed my two biggest bucks with this tactic. One ran straight to the mock scrape and sucked the dirt into its nostrils in perfect bow range. The other, a 10 point public land buck near where the other was shot, came in the day before and made a scrape of his own within 20 yards of my mock scrape and left without presenting a shot. Fortunately he returned the following day and I was ready with a shot made as he rubbed his face on my moch linking branch trying to tell the intruder buck that he was the buck of this ridge. These were both great hunts and I can attribute it 100% to Code Blue Scents.

A mock scrape also needs dominant buck urine to really set the stage. I have used various urines over the years and just started using Code Blue Scrape Mate this season. While I was not successful in the harvest of a mature whitetail this season I was rewarded with some great images of a great buck working my mock scrape. Unfortunately the 3 times this great public land bruiser showed up, all three during daylight by the way, I wasn’t in my tree. I am happy to announce that it appears that he will survive the season and I am already scouting his area for next year. I will include a couple pics from my trail camera here and again this was a mock scrape placed in a pinch point along a ridge using Code Blue Rack Rub and Scrape Mate Scents.
