This ain’t your babysitter’s after school tomato soup from a can. Homemade tomato soup is flavor packed. This is especially true when you add other ingredients from the garden. Thick, rich and creamy perfect for dipping your cheesy grilled cheese into. Yummy. For my cheesy grilled cheese check that recipe out right here, cheesy grilled cheese just hold the venison for the plain cheesy grilled cheese which is awesome too. I like a meaty grilled cheese myself. Kind of like my vegetable soup, with meat. Tomato soup might be a simple recipe, but it is delicious.

The first published tomato soup is mentioned by Eliza Leslie in 1857 in her final publication Eliza Leslie (1787–1858), frequently referred to as Miss Leslie, was an American author of popular cookbooks during the nineteenth century. She also wrote household management books, etiquette books, novels, short stories and articles for magazines and newspapers. New Cookery Book. Joseph A. Campbell‘s recipe for condensed tomato soup in 1897 that was commercially marketed further increased the tomato soup’s popularity.
I can remember as a boy eating tomato soup often. With not a lot of money my mom counted on grilled cheese and tomato soup to keep us fed. The good thing is we loved our tomato soup. Whether at the babysitter’s or at home our tomato soup was always the canned soup variety. This homemade tomato soup is so much better and much more filling than the canned soup. My wife and I love to sit on the porch when it is a little chilly and enjoy our soup in the fall and winter.
