OUR MISSION

how to become an outdoor writerThe mission here at Rambling Angler Outdoors is communicating the outdoors. It is our hope to continue our great outdoor traditions and lifestyles. The number of people who hunt and fish is dwindling along with outdoor communicators. All outdoor activities should be promoted in any way possible to help people understand the outdoor lifestyle. Not just recreation and good clean food, but also as a great family past time that can bring family and friends together to make memories, cook new recipes or just sit around a campfire and tell stories.

Let’s bring back the fish camp and the deer camps where many great memories were made and friendships forged. If you have the ability and desire to create and hopefully inspire others to continue these great American traditions and the lifestyle it can provide, feel free to contact me for more information. Hopefully, together we might increase the recruitment of people into hunting, fishing, camping, and cooking the American traditions we love so much. We need more voices within our ranks and by communicating, not just hunting and fishing opportunities, but also the lifestyle it can provide, we can create a following. It’s all about the lifestyle. This website promotes that lifestyle and revolves around hunting, fishing, camping and cooking and the great outdoors.

Any man who keeps working is not a failure. He may not be a great writer, but if he applies the old-fashioned virtues of hard, constant labor, he’ll eventually make some kind of career for himself as a writer.
– Ray Bradbury

When you are accepted as a Rambling Angler Outdoors contributor and have sent in a few articles via email we will then set you up with a password and login information. This will allow you access to the backside of my wordpress platform. You will be able to create within the wordpress editor and save your work as a draft. You can work on the article within the editor and when ready for submission you will can click pending review and I will then look it over and publish it to the site.

WRITERS GUIDELINES

Articles should have a Title and an H1 heading. These can be similar but must depict the nature of the article. For an example feel free to check out some of the articles on www.ramblingangler.com

Articles should be spell checked and well written. I will be editing all articles but need them to be fairly polished before I get them.

Articles should be a minimum of 850 words or more.

Images should be at least 1 MB in file size and in .jpg format. The image/images should be attached to the email along with the article. Attaching images leave the image intact and in full resolutions. When sent through Facebook and other avenues they are compressed and are too small to use.

Create good photos with crisp focus. Today’s smartphones take great images and can be used but I would suggest that you think of buying a decent point and shoot or SLR for your photography.

Take some images in horizontal format and some in vertical. The featured image for your article must be horizontal format so keep that in mind.
